Instagram has announced adding a highly sought-after option – the ability to delete individual posts from a previously uploaded carousel.

As explained by Instagram boss Adam Mosseri, now that after you’ve uploaded a carousel of pictures and / or videos, you can remove certain posts from that series by tapping the three-dot menu and then selecting Edit Click the little trash can icon in the top left of the picture / video you want to remove.

Carousels have become one of the most popular post formats on the app, with a current study by Mention / Hubspot Find out Carousel is posting have overtaken both frame and video updates as the most engaging type of post. The ability to build more context into your updates by adding more frames makes this format a particularly valuable one for brands too – and now you have more ways to manage your carousel posts, which if you ever need to a very practical option.

As Mosseri also notes, Instagram has also added a new “Rage Shake” feature that activates a new issue prompt when you shake your phone while Instagram is active.

Other apps have similar “shake to report” features, including Facebook, which make it easier to quickly share technical problems or glitches and, in some cases, to act in response to a reflex action.

However, if you find yourself shaking your device violently in response to a problem with an app, it may be time to take a quick break from social media. Checking in the latest memes isn’t that important.

The option to delete a single post from a carousel is now available on iOS, with Android coming soon, while Rage Shake is currently only available in the US.
