Algo updates for Google search, title hyperlink doc, steady scrolling, information panel updates and extra

This week, last weekend, we covered another update to the Google search ranking algorithm. Some of the tracking tools went nuts this week, but I think it could be related to the UI changes that Google introduced. I’m not sure. Google has released new help documents on titles and snippets with a new term called title link. Google responded to the crawled, unindexed error, saying it was a reporting delay. Google does what they call continuous scrolling in mobile search results. Google tests rotating 3D images in the search snippets. Google has a new design on the desktop for knowledge panels and is also introducing knowledge panels for podcasts. The Google performance report has been updated for news / good site experience data. Google’s rich search results report may show more job posting errors. Google said it doesn’t rank websites that use a popular WordPress theme any worse in search. Google said basic SEO doesn’t mean it’s easier SEO. And Google said that SEO is about the search engines not having to read your mind. Bing is testing a lightbulb to expand the details of the search results snippet. Google is testing customized query-based footers with search suggestions. Google shows two local ads and scrollable local reviews. Microsoft Advertising has updated its Smart Page builder. Peter Norvig, a 20-year-old Google veterinarian who leads research and development at Google and was also director of search quality for some time, is stepping down from Google. And if you want to help sponsor these vlogs go to patreon.com/barryschwartz. That was the search news this week in Round table for search engines.
