Google Core Replace, Google Product Critiques Replace, Google Cell First Indexing, Algorithm Hell & 18 Years

One crazy week to end a crazy month of Google changes this is how this SEO video roundup can be summed up. Google completed the rollout of the November 2021 core update on Tuesday afternoon, November 30th. 60% of SEOs said they didn’t see any changes on this core update. One day later, on Wednesday, December 1st, Google started rolling out the second update of the year’s product rating algorithm – with new rules and changes. Google also told us that they are getting rid of the deadline for first indexing mobile devices (I forgot to talk about it so read the news below). Google admitted that there are some rare instances where a website can get caught in the limbo or hell of the Google algorithm. I posted Google’s great webmasters report back in December – it was a crazy month. Google said the website speed is not why your rankings went down or up in any significant way. Google said your url changes from a year ago aren’t the reason your rankings are still down today. Google said that human readable sitemaps really aren’t necessary for SEO. Google still doesn’t index parts of a page. Google said links to or from small websites are fine. The Google Ads performance planner has added a number of features. Google Merchant Center has a new Competitor Visibility report and a report showing which badges you are eligible for. Google Shopping Ads automatically showed negative prices for some ads. Google launches an expandable snippet carousel. Google also shows a voice carousel in some countries. You can now filter healthcare providers based on the insurance they accept in the United States. Google has some nice Hanukkah Easter eggs with donuts, menoras, and dreidels. And I’m embarrassed to say I’ve been writing about search for 18 years – it’s the 18th anniversary of the Search Engine Roundtable. And if you want to help sponsor these vlogs go to patreon.com/barryschwartz. That was the search news this week at Round table for search engines.
