Google says that writer shouldn’t be a direct rating issue

Google’s John Mueller said some time ago in a video hangout that the author of an article is not a direct ranking factor. He said this when asked if it was important to have a recognized and authoritative doctor write or review your medical content when it comes to Google’s EAT recommendations.

John said no, there was no “quantifiable difference” between using a doctor who was known for SEO or ranking or not. John said, “purely from an SEO perspective, it probably doesn’t matter” whether a top doctor or a lesser known doctor writes or reviews the content. John added, “I don’t think you would see any difference in SEO ranking by choosing this other author or any other author.”

Google recommended this before Doctors review your medical content and have one Expert write your content. But Google also downplayed it Rental of expert names to this end, even though Google said earlier it tries to identify the author details.

The question was raised with the. posed 50:55 mark In this video:

Hi! I already answered one of my questions, but I have one more for you. It’s about EAT again, I’m sorry. Google recommends writing medical content by doctors. For example, if you have an acne-related page, does it make a difference in becoming like a top dermatologist when you know someone of a similar profile, who also has profiles in many medical journals, who has a knowledge? Graph who, like you, has a reputation in the community, that kind of thing. Or when you get a family doctor? Does it matter in terms of ranking and SEO, does it weigh in any way? Or as long as you are a qualified doctor, does it not matter?

John replied:

I don’t know if there would be a quantifiable difference. Because it is not a direct ranking factor either. That we say, oh, let’s find the author and check that and check again. Rather, it’s something that comes into play when we look at the bigger picture of the website’s content. So my feeling is probably irrelevant from an SEO point of view. In the long run, it might make sense to have a stronger writer attached to it. But I don’t think you would see any SEO ranking difference if you choose this other author or any other author.

Here is the video of that segment, it should play in the correct position:

Here’s how Glenn Gabe summed it up on Twitter:

More from John: From a pure SEO standpoint, it probably doesn’t matter either way, but from a long-term perspective (seen as an authority) it might make sense to have a stronger author on the website’s content. But … no difference in rank b / t authors. pic.twitter.com/3HgyyFS5Ua
