Clubhouse Expands Clips Entry to All Users on iOS, Provides New Link-Sharing Possibility for Rooms

After launching the new ‘clips’ option in beta last week, with the user To share 30-second audio clips from public rooms, Clubhouse has now expanded the option for all users on iOS and at the same time introduces another new sharing function in the form of room links for further distribution outside the app.

First of all, about clips – as already mentioned, Clubhouse announced the release of clips last week that features a new scissors icon that, when tapped, will record the last 30 seconds of audio from a public space for third party sharing.

The option must have done well in early testing as Clips has now been rolled out to all iOS users.

Hello! good news! We’re making clips available to everyone on iOS right now.

As you can see in this example, the clips functionality is pretty straightforward – you tap the icon, Clubhouse will stitch the audio clip together, and then you can share it with other platforms.

The option is not yet available on Android, but Android broadcasters can enable clips to support sharing of their shows.

In addition, and as stated by an audio social expert Morgan Evets, Clubhouse also adds QR codes on shared clipsreferring to the live room in progress.

It’s a handy option that will undoubtedly help increase awareness of clubhouse broadcasts – and that’s a major issue right now as discovery is a key challenge for all audio social apps.

Twitter is still working on his “Rooms” tab to maximize awareness, and Clubhouse, now that it is open to all, is working to help users out the 700,000 rooms are broadcast daily in the app, and highlight the discussions that are most relevant to them.

Clips help by allowing users to inform their followers on other platforms about current discussions that may be of interest to them.

This is where this feature comes in – in addition to clips, Clubhouse has also added a new one Link sharing option for private roomswhich provides a direct link back to clubhouse chats.

Clubhouse link sharing

As you can see here, you can now tap on “Share Room Link” which will allow you to direct people outside of the app back to live chats.

As explained by Clubhouse:

“Lots of people have told the team that it would be great if you could just grab a private clubhouse room link and paste it into a calendar invitation, similar to a phone call or video chat. Now you can – with clubhouse links. Users can share this private link with friends, family, or just anyone they want to chat with on a regular basis. “

Clubhouse links provide an easy way to spark engagement in the app as the links are also reusable, meaning anyone invited can reactivate the room at any time to start a conversation.

“To get a clubhouse link, simply tap on” + Room “in the hallway and then on” Collect room via a link “. A unique link is copied to your clipboard so you can send it to a group, place it on a calendar invitation, or add it anywhere to an event entry. The room is private – open only to the people who have the link – and you will be notified when people join.

This could be another way to get more engagement on the app and help Clubhouse find a niche in the broader social media arena.

With Facebook and Twitter now also offering audio social tools, Clubhouse just isn’t a leader in what it originally was about larger apps.

The sheer economies of scale of these platforms will make it difficult for Clubhouse to become a real competitor. But if it can focus on niche usage and maximizing community engagement, it can still become a key tool for many, much like how Snapchat laid its foundations, despite being much smaller than the competition.

And there are good signs of the clubhouse on that front, with usage remaining high, especially in Growth regions like Indiawhere it could serve a unique purpose.

It remains a favorite of many and still offers many options. And if Clubhouse can keep adding new tools and features like these, it could keep and increase its relevance even if it’s no longer the cool new app.
