It could be a result of bad sleep patterns, medications, chronic illnesses and depression among other factors. Your eating habit has a major impact on your health, and it is important that you keep a check on that. Similarly, your eating habit to has an impact on your sleep patterns. Certain food might help you sleep better, and others might create problems with your sleep. Here are a few eating and drinking habits that can be a trigger for insomnia.

  1. Drinking caffeinated drinks: Drinking caffeinated drinks in the morning can help to boost your mood and also provide you with energy, however, if you drink too much of caffeinated drinks, it might make you jittery and anxious. Therefore, drinking too much of caffeinated drinks and drinking it later in the day can be bad for your insomnia.
  2. Drinking energy drinks: Another drinking habit that can spoil your sleep is drinking too much of energy drinks. Energy drinks might have caffeine or other herbal substances present in them which help to give the body a boost of energy. It can be good for you during the day, however, drinking it in the evening or near bedtime can turn out to be bad for your sleep.
  3. Eating spicy food before sleep: When you eat too much of spicy food at night, it can cause acidity which can cause sleep disturbances. Moreover, when you sleep, this acid travels up the oesophagus which causes acid reflux and can eventually lead to insomnia or sleep disturbances.
