Google would not begin rolling out its search algorithm simply earlier than the weekend

Google’s Danny Sullivan and John Mueller both said the search company generally doesn’t launch or begin rolling out a search algorithm update right before the weekend. Danny Sullivan continued Twitter “In my experience, it’s quite unusual for rollouts to happen outside of working hours.”

Danny added, “Obviously we’re a global company with many search teams around the world.” “But a general ‘update the update, turn off the lights, see you all on Monday’ – that’s not typical of what I’ve seen have,” he said.

Keep in mind that Google may launch an update on Thursday, and then roll out that update over days or weeks — and this process can “feel” through a drop in rankings that may not be noticed until the weekend — depending on when these URLs will be processed.

John Mueller added Twitter “There’s a lot more nuance than flicking a switch for a launch, but also most Googlers work from home these days and most don’t like to work weekends when something unexpected happens.” “Certainly no one wants to start and run here,” added Added John Mueller.

.@searchliaison .@johnmu People? Do you have something to say?

People think Googlers flip the switch and go home at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Is this really happening? https://t.co/EJEk6BETs6

There’s a lot more nuance than flicking a switch for a launch, but again, most Googlers work from home these days, and most don’t like working weekends when something unexpected happens. Surely nobody wants to launch & run here.
