Google Core Replace for November, Google Ads CPC Error, Googlebot Challenge from SiteGround and Snowden on Google

What a week – Google actually released a major core update days before the big online Christmas shopping season – the November 2021 Google core update is live and rolling out. I share my thoughts on the timing, release, more on core updates and the impact so far. SiteGround, a hosting platform that runs 2 million domains, had a DNS problem for about a week that caused problems with the Googlebot crawling the websites it was hosting – that’s fixed. We encountered an issue with Google Shopping Ads that caused CPC prices to skyrocket last weekend. Google said it is promoting local news and local publishers more in search. Microsoft Bing has published its list of IP addresses that BingBot crawls with. I love how Microsoft Bing emails website owners to notify them that their websites are no longer blacklisted. Google has published help documents on how Google can translate search results snippets and how to make sure your ads load when someone receives translated results on your web pages. Google also updated their help documents on structured logo data to say your logos need to look great on a white background. Google said bold text can be a signal for SEO and SEOs are nuts. Google released an interactive SEO checklist that is fun. Google has redesigned the Google PageSpeed Insights tool. The Google Search Console has a confirmed bug with users and permissions, and there are also complaints about delays in performance reports. Google search found a “found in video” carousel. Google is testing a Google Lens button in the viewfinder. Google Maps added more pickup with Google, restaurant price ranges, more indoor mapping, and more. Google Ads customer comparison is now available to even more advertisers with a new preview tool. Google Ads has added new features to the Insights tab, including demand forecasting, consumer interest information, audience information, change history information, and auctions. You can now list medical test kits in the Google Merchant Center. Microsoft Bing has a snowman GIF next to the shopping tab in the search bar – how cute. And Edward Snowden isn’t a fan of Google searches to say the least. And if you want to help sponsor these vlogs go to patreon.com/barryschwartz. That was the search news this week in Round table for search engines.
