Google says it does not know if there might be one other core replace in 2021

As you know, we are all waiting for the next big update to the Google core algorithm and during it we know it will come, do we all wonder if it will be by the end of the year? John Mueller was asked that by Google, and so was he called, He does not know.

The last core update we had was July 2021 and then a month beforehand with the June core update. Before that, we had no further core updates in 2021. So far this year we’ve had two core updates – that’s an unusually low number of core updates for the year. Before that, we had a core update at the beginning of December 2020, the December core update. Although 2020 was also a slow core update year.

I suspect if I had to guess we’d have another core update in December, next month, or January 2022.

John added on Twitter that the reason they don’t give us schedules for these core updates is because “these things are sometimes hard to tell in advance.” He said he had “seen cases where things were postponed for years” even an hour before a scheduled launch. So Google doesn’t want to promise anything and miss the deadline.

Here are these tweets:

Sometimes these things are difficult to say in advance. I’ve seen cases where things have been postponed for years even an hour before a scheduled start. The goal is certainly to make sure the search results stay relevant to the users and that sometimes means changes are made.

In your humble opinion, will you have a major update of the core algorithm in 2021? @dannysullivan

I think Danny Sullivan hasn’t responded to that yet and he may know better in terms of the schedules – to be honest.

Anyway – if I had to guess, we’ll see one in December 2021.

Forum discussion at Twitter.

Update: Funny, Google said less than 24 hours it didn’t know and then published it Core update from November 2021.
