Goodbye Google My Business – Whats up Google Business Profile

Google has changed again the name of its local corporate management product. I think this could be the sixth time, or maybe more, that Google has changed the name of this product. It is now known as the Google Business Profile and will no longer be called Google My Business.

The previous names, if I got it right, I think we are now Google Business Profile, it was yesterday Google My Business (2014), before that Google+ Local (2012), Google Places (2010), Local Google business center (2007 and earlier). As you can see, we have a lot of names and frankly I don’t think the Google Company Profile name will last either.

Google wants companies with an entry to manage their entry in Google search and / or on Google Maps. Google doesn’t want you to use the new Google Business Profile Manager, also known as Google My Business at google.com/business Instead, just search for your business in Google Search and Maps and edit it there. You can find your company name by name or just search for [my business]. Google postponed that Direction recently but we saw signs that this was coming since 2017. Those who manage multiple entries, e.g. B. chains or local SEOs can still use the Google Company Profile Manager.

You can now claim and confirm your company directly in the search results without having to do this in the Google Business Profile Manager. Google will exit the Google My Business mobile app – you will be asked to manage it directly in Google Search or the Google Maps app.

Google is also rolling, at least officially, Call history and Read receipts for news. Features that I’ve had on my account for a while …
