Was there an replace to Google Search this week? Combined indicators.

In the last few days, the Google Search Tracking Tools showed sometimes enormous change peaks in the Google search results. Some didn’t, many did. The chatter didn’t really coincide with the spikes. So many ask me if there was one Google search update? I’m sure some UI changes may have triggered the tools.

Maybe it was triggered by them new wide design with button in the upper knowledge area that seemed to be rolling out this week. Maybe it has to do with the new continuous scrolling on the phone? Maybe it’s because the indented results it’s your turn now 40% of the results? I’m not sure for sure, but the chatter is very limited when it comes to SEOs complaining about ranking changes.

the WebmasterWorld has limited chat as of October 12th, but that might be due to the response to the Weekend update. Therefore, due to the chatter, it is difficult to tell when the complaints of …

Very volatile and noticing my older items falling off like flies. Feels like I’m on a treadmill at 50 mph. Even today, traffic in the US falls like a stone at 9 a.m. 39% less than the last four Tuesdays at 2 p.m. European traffic gone again … France, Germany and almost all other western euro countries gone. It is clear that this is the new ball game with Google. Expect much less traffic during peak sales hours (8pm – 6pm?). I don’t see this as a test, it’s already built in. Google is definitely introducing these changes to a wider and wider range of searches in the United States. It killed all of my most important searches like a cancer. This also explains why each of us experiences this at different times upon initiation, not all at the same time.

Today I researched why a group of terms that I ranked high for for 15 years had 30-40% less traffic in the last ten days or so. The page layout was a total mess! Google opens the page with three ads, then a block of suggested famous people related to the search based on Wikipedia, then local results, then images, an organic result, YouTube videos, then another block of four ads on page one ! Four ads continued from the top of page two, so you’ll only get organic results after that. It was a jumbled mess, and I can see that with so many ads on the page, advertisers get little to no real benefit.

My USA traffic continues to decrease … starting at -66% today and my homepage is -35% and the main landing pages are down -35% to -60% today. This is just fatal for everyone … I don’t even see how big top ranking sites or advertisers with huge budgets would benefit from it.

Wow today is a spectacularly terrible day. Decreasing week by week since the end of September. Very cool. Thanks google!

Here’s what the tools show, with RankRanger being quiet in the middle of the week like others, but some catching up this morning – maybe another weekend update is in sight?

Again, it is not clear whether there was a real update to the Google search ranking algorithm or whether the Changes to the user interface tripping some of the tracking tools?
