Method 1: how to post to Instagram from your computer using Hootsuite

To post to Instagram using Hootsuite on a PC or Mac, do the following:

1. Sign in to your Hootsuite dashboard. If you don’t have an account yet, create it here for free.
2. Click the green one on your dashboard New article Button up.
3. The New Post window is displayed. Under Mail to, Select the Instagram account that you want to post your content to. If you haven’t added an account yet, you can do so by clicking + Add a social network in the box and follow the instructions.
4. Put the picture, video and / or carousel (multiple pictures and videos) you want to post on Instagram in the media Section. Enhance your picture and / or video with the Photo editor.
5. When you’re done, add your caption into that text Section as well as any hashtags that you want to use. You also have the option to add a location below.
6. Once you’ve made your post, check it for errors. When you are sure everything is OK, click Post now Button down. Alternatively, you can Appointment for later if you would like it to be published at another time.

Method 2: how to post to Instagram from PC

You can also post to Instagram from your PC using Google Chrome. If you don’t have Chrome, Download it here.

To post on Instagram from a PC, follow these steps:

1. Go to instagram.com in your Chrome browser.
2. Go to your browser’s settings by tapping the three dots on the right. From there click on More tools, then Developer tools. You will then see the Chrome developer window.
3. Tap the Cell phone, mobile phone Button.

4. Then tap Appealing. From the drop-down menu, select which mobile device interface you want to use (e.g. iPhone or iPad).
5. After you’ve chosen a mobile interface to use, refresh the page and you’ll see the mobile interface in your browser. You can now post to Instagram from your desktop just like you would on your phone!

From here you can post multiple pictures, videos, and a mix of both.

Method 3: how to post on Instagram from Mac

To post to Instagram from a Mac, you can use Google Chrome as described above. Or you can use the default Mac browser, Safari.

To post to Instagram from a Mac using Safari, do the following:

1. Go to the Instagram website in your Safari browser.
2. Go to settings Safari menu. click Progressive.
3. Check the box next to Show the Develop menu in the menu bar. The Develop menu is now displayed in the top menu bar.
4. By doing To develop Menu, click User agent, Then select the mobile interface that you want to see. It should be filled with the latest iPhone iOS.
5. The website will be updated as soon as you have made your choice. You can now upload posts to Instagram from your Mac like you normally would with the mobile app!

From here you can post multiple pictures, videos, and a mix of both.

Method 4: how to post to Instagram from your computer using Creator Studio

If Instagram is your social network of choice and you don’t mind not having all of your social networks in one dashboard, Creator Studio could be a great option for you.

Note that when using Creator Studio, you can post and schedule all types of posts except Instagram Stories.

To post on Instagram using Creator Studio:

1. Make sure it is you Connected to Instagram in Creator Studio.
2. Navigate to the Instagram section.
3. click Create a post.
4. click Instagram feed.
5. Select the account you want to post to (if you have more than one Instagram account linked).
6. Add a label and location (optional).
7. click Add content to add photos or videos.
8. Next, choose between these 2 options:
   • click From file upload to upload new content.
   • click From the Facebook page to post content that you have already shared on your Facebook.
9. (Optional) If you want to post this content on the Facebook page associated with your Instagram account at the same time, select the check box next to your page under Post to Facebook. You can add additional details to your Facebook post after it’s posted on Instagram.
10. click Publish.

How to post an Instagram story from the desktop

You can post an Instagram story from your computer using a third-party social media management tool like Hootsuite. Just follow the steps in this short video:

If you don’t have Hootsuite, here are the steps to post an Instagram story from your PC or Mac:

1. Go to Instagram.com.
2. Switch to Developer Mode in either Safari or Google Chrome (see the Mac and PC sections above for more steps).
3. click on the camera top left.
4. Select an image or video to add to your story. Edit it with text, stickers, filters, gifs or whatever.
5. Tap Add to your story below.

You are done! It’s practically the same steps as using the Instagram app on your phone.

How to edit an Instagram post from the desktop

With Hootsuite Compose, you can edit any image right on your dashboard before you publish it. Unfortunately, you will no longer be able to edit the image after it has been published.

To edit, do the following:

1. Sign in to your Hootsuite dashboard. If you don’t have an account yet, create it here for free.
2. Click the green one on your dashboard New article Button up.
3. The New Post window is displayed. Under Mail to, Select the Instagram account that you want to post your content to. If you haven’t added an account yet, you can do so by clicking + Add a social network in the box and follow the instructions.
4. Put the pictures and / or videos you want to post on Instagram in the media section
5. Click to edit Edit picture under the media section. This will bring up the Hootsuite Composer editing tool. It allows you to adjust the aspect ratio of your image so that it virtually matches the image metrics of any social media platform. In the sidebar you also have the option to add filters, adjust lighting and focus, add text and stickers and also use the brush.
6. When you’re done, click Save on computer.
7. Add your caption, hashtags, and your location. Then click Post now.
