The Google Search Console instruments begin by matching the URL inspection instrument

Google has Updated three of its publicly available Search Console tools to match and “align” with the URL inspection tool in Google Search Console. especially the AMP, Mobile friendly, and Rich results Tools are now visually and functionally similar and identical to the URL inspection tool.

This is what the mobile-friendly test looks like in the public facing tool (left picture) and URL inspection tool (right picture) side by side – click on the picture to view it in full size:

Now the user interfaces and functionality are the same, Google said it is “making changes to their designs and improved features to fully align with the URL inspection tool”. “The changes include standardizing previous functionality as well as new functionality you may be familiar with from the URL inspection tool. In particular, the following fields will now be reported for both public tests and URL inspection tools. “

  • Page Availability – Whether Google was able to crawl the page, when it was crawled, or whether there were any obstacles while crawling the URL.
  • HTTP Header – The HTTP header response returned by the verified URL.
  • Page Screenshot – The rendered page as displayed by Google.
  • Paired AMP inspection, check both canonical and AMP url.

This is a good thing because several of Google’s tools that show different things can confuse audiences, such as we saw yesterday.

Another good thing about today’s update to the Rich Results testing tool is that you can view the rendered HTML / screenshot for either mobile or desktop, while URL Inspector doesn’t give you that option. Useful for debugging. https://t.co/SH2gvWMoKV pic.twitter.com/P4HDqGD8uD
