Develop with gratitude this Christmas season and past

This post was contributed by Ashley Thiel, Executive Operations.

I’ve been with ActiveCampaign for 3.5 years. I work in the Executive Office where I focus on operations and special projects. As part of my role, I also lead ActiveImpact, the philanthropic arm of ActiveCampaign, where our goal is to enable corporate purpose and find ways to help our employees make a difference in our communities and in the world.

ActiveImpact and our corporate giving initiative have been an integral part of ActiveCampaign for many years. From day one at ActiveCampaign, all employees have a strong feeling that giving is something the company is passionate about and that all employees are encouraged to make a difference in every possible way, be it through volunteering, donating for you cause or support their local communities. It was so inspiring to see the immense impact of our efforts over the years as we’ve grown from a few hundred employees to more than 1,000 ACers around the world today.

One of our core values is to pursue growth with gratitude. We see this as a way for us to stay grounded as we grow, to be grateful for the rewards that come from growth, and to lean on the opportunities that will have a positive impact on others and our communities.

We see our employees (and customers) giving back in a variety of ways, donating their time, talent and money to causes that are important to them. ActiveCampaign wants to give employees a space to be good corporate citizens and to increase their impact. We have therefore implemented a large number of initiatives:

1. Voluntary time off

Every employee has 3 days of voluntary time off (VTO), which corresponds to around 1% of the time per year. We pride ourselves on being part of the Pledge 1% community and the movement that encourages companies to do good. In addition to individual time off, we as a team took part in volunteer events such as the Best Buddies Friendship Walk, parking clearing work in our office centers and supporting young entrepreneurs in business plan competitions.

2. Donation reconciliation

Each employee receives an annual corporate donation match allocation of $ 500 or local equivalent for personal donations. To date, our team has donated tens of thousands of dollars, but we’re just getting started.

3. Internal fundraising campaigns

We are about to start our internal Campaign for Good, a company-wide fundraising event that coincides with GivingTuesday and the Christmas season. Last year our team donated over $ 20,000 to food drives and many employees participated in fundraising drives for local organizations. We can’t wait to see what impact they will have this year.

4. Help our customers give something back

As a company, we think of our customers in everything we do, including non-profit organizations. GivingTuesday is the biggest day for donations around the world, which makes it a very important moment for these nonprofits. So we decided to put one together Marketing toolkit with resources to support these organizations in their campaigns this year and to attract their supporters for years to come.

I am always amazed at our employees and customers who continue to stand behind our core value of pursuing growth with gratitude. Whether an employee is taking a volunteer day off, one of our teams organizing a toy drive, or a customer using our email builder to send out a fundraiser for charity, I love knowing that I’m part of a company that Good promotes both large and small trips this Christmas season and beyond.
