Think about buying TikTok followers? I get it. In this world of instant gratification, it is naturally tempting to buy the metrics you want.
When we as a society have developed the technology to: a Pizza with emoji on Twitter, why shouldn’t I get famous by clicking TikTok?
Organic growth just takes so much time and you want a nice juicy follower list now!
TikTok was downloaded more than two billion times, and has 100 million active users in the US This is the place to see and be seen, but it’s getting harder to stand out from the crowd or to solidify as a TikTok power user.
So it’s really no surprise that dozens of companies have popped up to sell TikTok follows and likes – a shortcut to TikTok success would leave so many hours a day to watch healthy families dance to “Blinding Lights”.
The question is: does this really work? Does buying TikTok followers really help your brand – or does it have the potential to do the opposite and damage your reputation on social media?
Based on dozen of episodes of Behind the Music, our previous experiment over Buy Instagram followers and for most of human history we had a secret suspicion that money, even on TikTok, can’t buy happiness.
But of course there was only one way to find out for sure. So I pulled out the old credit card and bought some fresh TikTok followers. Let the big experiment begin!
How to buy TikTok followers
It’s really not difficult to buy TikTok followers. I didn’t have to hang around the docks at night waiting to swap a suitcase full of money for a guy on a yacht. (But if I had to, please let the records show that my code name would have been ‘Esmerelda Diamanté’.)
Instead, I just found a website that was the least likely to steal my credit card information, selected the package that suited my needs, and hit the “Buy” button.
Within an hour, the fans began to pour.
Even though I knew it was fake, it still felt strangely exciting to watch my follower account skyrocket. Maybe Tatianna3838 would fall in love with my content and we would become real friends! Anything was possible!
Where can you buy TikTok followers?
You can buy TikTok followers from a variety of websites. Some look like refined professional marketing resources; others are decidedly sketchy. But all of them offer a range of packages that usually get cheaper by volume – the more followers you buy, the cheaper they are.
Some common options are TikFuel, TokMatik, StormLikes, Social-Viral, and Social Wick, but there are dozens and dozen of websites all of which offer pretty much the same thing: exchanging your cold money for a fleeting sense of popularity.
For this experiment, I decided to “invest” in followers from two different websites just in case one was a scam. I treated myself to 2,500 followers from Tokmatik for $ 39.99 and 1,000 more followers from TikFuel for the bargain price of $ 16.47.
For all of the math fans in the house, that was less than $ 0.02 per new follower. It’s basically like I can’t afford not to!
How much does it cost to buy TikTok followers?
Prices vary by source, but if you just evaluate the numbers from five random websites it looks like you’re paying, on average, about $ 3.50 for 100 TikTok followers, or about $ 21 for 1,000 TikTok followers.

There are also a couple of subscription plans out there if you want further growth. With ManagergramFor example, you can spend $ 49 per month on 1,000 “real” followers. This package also promises you 200 views per video and over 50 likes for each post.
But getting followers is one thing. Actually being successful on social media is another. And even 3,500 followers bought for pennies a dollar didn’t help me become a TikTok sensation at all. Rude Tatianna3838!
Does buying TikTok followers work?
Buying 3,500 TikTok followers cost me $ 75 and was completely worthless.
Yes, buying TikTok followers got me more TikTok followers. Because I literally paid for it.
But that’s it.
Not surprising, Buying TikTok followers doesn’t create a great audienceno matter how groundbreaking the content may be. My engagement was absolutely terrible.
It turns out that paying strangers in Latvia or wherever they hit the subscribe button in order not to build a strong and loyal fan base. And forget about “Like” or “Share” – it didn’t even lead to an increase in direct views.
How come, for example, that this video, in which I juggle toilet paper to the song “Tequila”, only has 151 views? What cold hearted monsters have I hired to take part in this experiment ?! I want my money back!
But I didn’t have to deal with the sting of rejection for long. TikTok noticed pretty quickly that I was popular with the fake account community and sent me a polite message that they were rushing to weed out my new followers.
So what’s the big lesson besides the fact that Tatianna3838 won’t be invited to my birthday party after all?
If it is your goal build a community, Increase your reach to future customers, Make conversions, Driving traffic, go viral, or spread your message To an interested audience – aka the reason every brand opens a social account in the first place – don’t bother buying followers. Just turn off the middleman and ignite your money.
3 reasons NOT to buy TikTok followers
1. You ruin your engagement rate and your chances of getting to the ForYou page
Not only will your fake followers not give you likes or comments (and they definitely won’t duet you), the massive discrepancy between your number of followers and your engagement will look particularly gruesome.
What this means for the TikTok algorithm is that your content is likely not worth sharing on the For You feed, which will hurt your chances for organic growth.
Better to have a smaller number of real, honest fans obsessed with everything you do than have a huge number of followers all just sitting in silence. Quality before quantity!
2. They won’t last long
While technically it doesn’t violate its Terms of Service, TikTok doesn’t want you to buy followers.
All social media platforms want real people to create and interact with real content. Bots and pay-to-play accounts are not helpful in building a fun, community-centric online ecosystem. So if your followers are tagged as bots or fakes, they will eventually be removed … which means you may be shopping for friends again.
3. You are not deceiving anyone
You might think that a huge hefty number of followers would impress someone – your other fans, your competitors, brands you’d like to work with – but the reality is, this trick only works for a few seconds.
Any semi-skilled social media user will be quick to conclude that your popularity is a sham. I mean just check out my list. Several people named “Tik Toker”. A suspicious lack of profile pictures. Notes from TikTok telling me they were removed due to suspicious activity.
All things that are difficult to explain to a potential brand partner or potential customer. Caught.
What to do instead of buying TikTok followers
There are so many better ways to build your TikTok following and none of them involve shopping.
Authentic, organic growth comes from great content, strategic posting plans, and Immerse yourself in analytics to get to know your audience at all levels.
Yes, it will take time and creativity, and probably a bit of sweat (just me?), But the result is true blue followers who like you for you, not just for your money. As a great philosopher (J.Lo) once said: “Love doesn’t cost anything.”
