Many people have seen the hit TV show Shark Tank and thought they had an idea for a product or service, but they just didn’t react to it. Ava, 16) and brother Trevor, 14, are fans of the show and started thinking about a product that could help a lot of people. You looked at a lot of different categories and challenges people face and found a fun fact. Many people don’t wash their feet, and those who do sometimes don’t wash their feet thoroughly. They bought over a dozen products that claimed to wash your feet, but what they found were poorly made, uncomfortable, and in some cases unsafe. You have to work!

Ava and Trevor used great sites like Fiverr and Upwork to partner with extremely talented shoe experts to come up with a simple design – one that could clean the top, sides, and bottom of your feet to include your ankles and even between your toes . The brother and sister team then worked with a certified reflexologist to strategically place unique textured mounds on the sole of the product to massage and increase blood flow. The last feature they worked on was adding an exfoliating area to gently remove flaky skin. Finding the name of the product was easy: Squeaky Clean Feet.

This team worked with another freelancer to create a 3D computer drawing of the product and then went on a hunt to find the product right manufacturer. In the end, they worked with a contract manufacturing broker who represented over 200 companies. They eventually picked one and started creating a prototype. It took about 8 different patterns to finally get the right color and texture of the bristles, as well as the quality to meet their standards. This included friends and family using the various samples and providing their feedback.

To get early attention and some capital to cover the cost of the first run of production, Ava and Trevor created a campaign on the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform. They were happy when they not only reached their destination, but overtook them. They then gave final approval for the first run to be completed later this year.

Now Ava and Trevor had a product they needed to generate a buzz, so they started reaching local traditional media and channels like Instagram and Facebook. As of this writing, they have been featured in school newspapers, city publications, magazines, a major news channel, and several social media posts. It’s a bit nerve-wracking at times, but these co-founders feel more confident with every interview they do.

It has been a long journey for these young entrepreneurs. They had this idea in late 2018 and really started working on it in 2019, but their dream of it bring this idea to market will be here before the end of 2021 year. The real compliment for these efforts was the feedback they both received. Ava’s and Trevor’s business problem they thought they would solve was a better way to clean your feet. What they found were dozens of emails from people suffering from unfortunate ailments, accidents, or operations with no other option to safely clean their feet. The feedback was that this could really improve their life. Now the drive of this sister and brother team is bigger than ever to bring this product into the hands of people who will really benefit from it.
