Answer questions

Question (F): What inspired you to create your platform, the School of Sass?

Meera Sharma (MS): I am the right person when people need motivation.

On the back of my book, and with the extra time I’ve spent at home over the past year, I thought it would be a great opportunity to create The School of Sass. I’ve always wanted to create a motivational platform and thought I’d use the free time to finally do just that!

I am a firm believer in manifestation, positive thinking, and the right attitude – I am living proof that you can achieve your goals if you believe you can AND work hard. The School of Sass is my way of educating and encouraging women to channel their inner cheek and live the life they envisioned because sometimes we need encouragement, be it in the form of quotes, articles or a radio show. These paths fall under the umbrella of the School of Sass.

Q: What’s naughty for you?

MS: To me, cheek means being confident, spirited and brave – brave enough to live the life YOU want to live – not what social pressure you to do. You know your worth, you know yourself, and you know that you can make your dreams come true.

Q: You have your own radio show – can you tell us more about it?

MS: The opportunity arose to work with DASH Radio x Rukus Avenue Radio to host my own motivational radio show, The Sass Life, which airs Mondays at 11am (PST). DASH has a wide reach and allows me to reach more people and encourage them to live their best lives. I also love being in LA; However, due to the pandemic, I am unable to travel to the States. As part of a Hollywood-based radio station, I was able to stay connected to my favorite city while also helping people – win, really win!

The last year has been tough on the world and my show is a great way to start your week with positive vibes. I speak to notable women who are experts in their field to find out how they channeled their inner cheek to create the life of their dreams. Sydney Cummings, Maya Vander, Ayesha Perry-Iqbal are just a few of the guests I interviewed – and I can assure you that they give a lot of great advice! I also have a motivational segment where I expand ways to stay motivated – I am giving #mondaymotivation a new meaning as I really want my listeners to feel ready to make it through the week!

Q: What top tips would you give readers who need motivation?

MS: It’s really important to set goals and have a plan. Setting goals helps you find your focus, measure your success, keep yourself motivated, and hold you accountable. So if you want something out of life, find out what it is and set yourself a goal to make it happen. Then come up with a plan and break it down into smaller achievable pieces – take time to work on specific things. Limit your distractions as you get things done – we all know how distracting our cell phones can be. So either use the mute button or turn off social media notifications. If all else fails, just put your phone in a drawer in another room while you get on with the task at hand.

It’s also important to have a routine because if you wake up and know what you want to accomplish, you will be able to do it. A routine allows you to turn things into habits because the more you do things consistently, the more they become second nature.

It is important to remember what you have already achieved and your why, as in achieving things we can get so lost that we don’t appreciate what we have already done!

When you’re feeling demotivated, it helps to take a step away from what you’re doing – taking a walk and focusing on your breathing allows you to center yourself. You will then return to your task refreshed. Going out really helps!

Q: What do you want our readers to know?

MS: Don’t be afraid to push yourself out of your comfort zone and try new things!

Q: What is your life mantra or cheeky saying?

MS: “Rejection is diversion.” If something doesn’t work the first time, don’t worry – learn from it and find another way.

Q: What’s next for you?

MS: At the moment I am doing an apprenticeship as a life coach. I really want to add coaching to my platform so I can help more people live their best lives!
