Free listings in Google Merchant Center get automated tagging

The Google Merchant Center announced that auto-tagging is now available for free listings on Google Shopping. “Auto-tagging for free listings is now available in your Merchant Center account,” according to the search company wrote.

If auto-tagging is enabled and someone clicked on your free product listing and free local product listing, auto-tagging adds some extra information to the URL parameters that searchers click, including a parameter called “Result- ID”.

The parameter can be analyzed by your analytics tool like Google Analytics to track these result IDs and give you more insight into your Merchant Center listings. Google said, “This allows you to see how effectively your free listings and free local listings are driving valuable customer activity like purchases.”

To enable auto-tagging in your Merchant Center account, go to “Conversion Settings” in your Merchant Center account.
