Meta Publicizes Deliberate Integration of WhatsApp into its Workplace Platform

Meta wants to help businesses stay connected with employees, many of whom are now working remotely, by adding a new one WhatsApp integration into its workplace platform that will Allow companies to share posts from Workplace via WhatsApp.

As you can see in this example, the integration provides another way to share internal updates from Workplace, which could help streamline messaging while enabling more engagement and interaction between remote workers.

Meta says the update is specifically aimed at that Better networking of frontline workers, who feel increasingly disconnected from management as a result of the pandemic.

According to Deskless Not Voiceless: The 2021 Frontline Barometer‘, which surveyed the views of 7,000 frontline workers and 1,350 C-suite executives in 7 countries, only 55% of frontline workers surveyed feel connected to their corporate headquarters. And many more of these respondents (75%) do not fully trust their organizations to be transparent about company news and updates.”

This is one of the biggest challenges of working remotely – when you can no longer be with your colleagues on a daily basis, it’s harder to get a sense of where the company is going, and potential strategic shifts or changes to it can impact your position . By allowing employees to connect via secure interaction on WhatsApp, it could enable a more direct, personal connection and help employees speak more freely about their concerns, thereby relieving excessive stress.

It also provides another way to share important updates and news and improve the flow of information. And given WhatsApp is that most used messaging app in the world, it’s a logical way to expand communication.

And as noted by TechCrunch, it also expands the usage potential of WhatsApp, which Meta is continuously working on integrating into more interactive elements to make it a more indispensable connecting app.

Workplace now has more than 7 million paying subscribers, and as more companies move to flexible working arrangements, in many cases it represents an ideal means of facilitating remote work. Because Workplace is built on the same framework as Facebook, most people are already familiar with the interface and options, reducing the training time required, a major obstacle for remote workers.

Adding WhatApp to this mix brings even more options, and while the integration isn’t live yet, Meta plans to roll out the new option soon as part of the next major Workplace platform update.
