Last month, the “Let’s Go Brandon” meme / phrase took social media by storm, essentially becoming a “G-rated” twist on the not-so-civilian phrase, “F ** K Joe Biden!” It was originally used in college football games, including in late summer.

The ridiculous phrase was shared on social media. It then became the “Let’s Go Brandon” version after the NBC sports broadcast on October 2, 2021. Brandon Brown won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race. Chants of “F ** k Joe Biden” could be heard in the background as reporter Kelli Stavast reportedly mistakenly described what was said as “Let’s go, Brandon”.

The footage of the interview went viral and “Let’s go Brandon” became a shame among conservatives. However, this interview was not recorded in the UK. Independent Newspaper reported that the “phase” had entered mainstream pop culture, with Loza Alexander making recordings and Bryson Gray recording songs with the phrase as the title. Alexander reached number 38 on iTunes Top Hip-Hop / Rap Songs and was the most popular song on Alexander’s iTunes Top Hip-Hop / Rap Songs. Billboard This week’s Hot 100. Gray’s song was also at the top of iTunes. It debuted at number 28 on the US Hot 100 last month.

The popularity of this slogan is not for everyone, especially in the case of motorsports.

NASCAR’s Steve Phelps said Friday that he does not want to be associated with politicians from one side or the other. Phelps also stated that NASCAR would take legal action against the use of trademarks with that slogan. According to Lenny Dkystra, a former baseball player posted a picture on Twitter this week showing a person wearing a NASCAR color-coded “Let’s Go Brandon” T-shirt.

Phelps said it was an unfortunate situation and that she felt for both Brandon and Kelli. It speaks volumes about the current state of our country, I think. We don’t want to get involved in politics (left or right).

Thank you, thank you Brandon

BGR.com reported that the White House knew very well about Let’s Go Brandon and was trying to control the story when @POTUS posted a picture of President Biden meeting a person named Brandon.

“I fight every day to get my Build Back Better Agenda on to people like Brandon. His story is like so many I’ve heard across the country. People are just looking for a chance to fight and be treated with the dignity they deserve – and that’s what my agenda is about, ”the tweet reads.

That tweet, which had about 13,000 likes, was only retweeted about 2,500 – and apparently didn’t take the internet by storm as it may have been planned. The narrative has been questioned and the hashtag #ThankYouBrandon has started trending alongside #LetsGoBrandon for the past few weeks.

The more natural hashtag #ThanksBrandon went viral on Saturday as President Joe Biden’s supporters reacted to Biden’s $ 1.2 billion bipartisan infrastructure bill being passed on Friday.

Author Kimberley Johnson (@AuthorKimberley) was one of the first to get the hashtag up and running. She tweeted “#ThankYouBrandon” because Democratic voters changed the script and took control.

“For making our lives your priority #ThanksBrandon,” tweeted reporter Sarah Reese Jones (@PoliticusSarah).

These hashtags are a reminder of the deep divisions in this country. But maybe things have gotten more civil.

Roger Entner of Recon Analytics, technology analyst and social media researcher, said, “Social media is all about those hashtags or slogans that keep popping up.” “This is the social side of social media. This is the effort of the left to appropriate a slogan from the right. It has happened before with varying degrees of success.
