Rating replace of the Google search algorithm from October fifteenth to October 18th?

I’m leading with I’m sorry to report another one Update of the Google search ranking algorithm – another unconfirmed. But as I said on Friday, there seemed to be one going on and it seems that Google had some fluctuations from October 15th to date and the chatter in the SEO community supports this time around.

This doesn’t seem like an explosive update, but there are numerous SEOs who became aware of this update over the weekend. Some report big changes in the rankings, and many not for the better. Some say their top keyword phrases have dropped 20, 30, or more percent in traffic and rankings in the past few days or so.

I’ll say, contrary to what I posted on Friday, this update has a lot more chatter and a lot more SEOs watching out for ranking drops.

SEO chatter

Here is the chat at WebmasterWorld after October 15th:

I think we just got a new update. Big changes in Germany. Starting in the morning with a massive drop in US traffic, -74% at 10:30 am. CA -40%, homepage down by 40%. UK / AU normal. Instead of starting normally as usual and falling off a cliff at 8-9am, traffic was very light every hour today. That happens so often now that you really can’t call up an “update” … Google is now going from a massive decline to the next 2-3X per week … the traffic has been miserable this morning since September 14th Traffic … -20% or so. I’ve never seen anything like it … Search down 30% and Direct down 35% today at 12:30 PM … what a crazy disaster Google is every day now. I have a feeling that a SERP update is in progress. Big drop in the rankings. All Google did today was downrank keywords. It’s very quiet even for a Saturday, 15 hours of my Google day have passed and the traffic is 26% of the average. The last 3-4 hours of my Friday night were quiet too. One of my top competitors has been forgotten (including me, by the way). That certainly has nothing to do with the domain valuation. I think it’s about the trustworthiness, but I’m not sure. I’m noticing a big drop in backlinks in gsc. Did you experience that too? Huge decline today …… Certainly today will be the worst performance of my main website in years. Congratulations G! I think I flipped the switch with my questions yesterday afternoon as the traffic began to flow, resulting in a perfectly normal day with the US hitting the October average. Today started well with some big hits from the Indian subcontinent, which is completely normal for me. Traffic on Saturday was relatively normal, but today US and UK traffic are both down more than 40%. My daily homepage traffic has been dropping steadily for weeks, sometimes by up to 60% on a given day. This was also the case in June when my homepage disappeared from the SERPs every other day.
