1. Post to multiple Facebook groups

One of the biggest and most common mistakes promoters make is posting their articles to multiple Facebook groups at once. They believe that posting in multiple groups would result in a tremendous flow of visitors, but the certainty of this cannot be ascertained.

Imagine a case where there are 1000 active members in a group who are mostly writers or promoters. Even if one in five people start posting to the group now, they will soon be receiving more than 200 posts a day. Hence, it means that you may be promoting content that already has a ton of competition.

Despite the lame advertising groups on Facebook, there are actually some groups on the platform that like other members’ blog posts for the sake of likes, reach, and engagement. But such reciprocal promotions result in little growth and at the same time do not help build a strong readership.

So if you look back on this strategy of sharing your content / blog posts in Facebook groups with like-for-like / share-for-share in the long run, you will find that all of the time has been wasted on mere likes and Views that never lead to anything in the long run, are hardly organic.

2. Use clickbait headlines to generate clicks

Generating clicks through clickbait headlines has quickly become one of the most common practices to avoid. While clickbait headlines can generate a few clicks at best, it can be viewed as one of the wrong ways to promote content.

As you scroll down Facebook or other social media platforms, you may have come across titles like “10 Harry Potter Actors Who Got Attractive” or “Man Divorced His Wife After Seeing This Photo”.

Let’s say you clicked on one of these titles and viewed the article. If the article had nothing as exciting (or) like it as the headline suggested, would you click on such titles? Wouldn’t you leave headlines like this the next time you were confronted with it?

Safe because you feel cheated.

As a blogger and writer, it’s important to understand that there is a fine line between clickbait headlines and good headlines. On the one hand, good headlines deliver the content / story they promised. However, clickbait headlines are meant to generate clicks and never deliver the content they promised in the headlines.

So it is important to write compelling headlines they keep what they promise.

3. Redirect users through semi-published content

Another wrong way to promote content could be to provide links to semi-published articles on social media. You may have seen people post the first paragraph of their content on LinkedIn and Quora, but to read the rest of the way they leave a link that says, “Click here to read more” (or) “Click Here to read the full article ‘.

Such tactics may look very promising and tempting at first glance. You might think that the easiest way to get traffic to your website is by asking readers to follow a link to another website. This may work in some cases, but on the whole it could turn out to be a fiasco.

Instead of sending a reader to your blog or website using a shoddy technique, use the following tactics:

  • Create platform-specific content – Focus on making content unique for each platform. You don’t have to focus on all social media platforms to market your business / blog. Instead, choose 1-2 social media platforms and create copious amounts of content for those platforms.
  • Develop a call-to-action – If anything, you want to create a call-to-action, add your website and let your readers know that they can read more such articles by visiting the website.

4. Advertising content through AdWords

Google AdWords can change the way you get traffic to your website. With a little investment, you can get very targeted traffic to your website that can ultimately improve your business. But Google AdWords can cost you immensely if not done right.

For example, using relevant keywords for a lawyer or an insurance company can cost you up to $ 800 per click. Assuming 5 keywords are misplaced, each click could cost $ 4,000. For smaller businesses, this type of loss can be too much.

Hence, content writers and bloggers are advised to stay away from Google AdSense. Until they are comfortable, familiar, and familiar with how Google ads serve up. To run an advertising campaign, you need a reasonable investment. As a blogger, your goal with Google Ads may be to generate a few thousand clicks on content that cannot be monetized (blog posts with no affiliate links, no products for sale, no services to offer).   3. It also means that your articles or blogs have a limited shelf life and are not of evergreen value. Even if marketed properly, your articles will lose traffic over time. Hence, it is a gamble to focus only on trends.
